Akumal is a small community of condos and beach houses between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. The bays are sheltered by the reef, which makes them some of the safest swimming on the coast, and green turtles feed in Akumal Bay year-round. Tulum airport (TQO) is about 40 minutes away.
